Reminiscences of a Stock Operator
New York: George H. Doran Company, 1923. Early Printing. Early printing, unstated. 8vo; Publisher's olive green cloth with octagonal 'GDH' emblem blind stamped into cover, gilt lettering stamped into spine. Copyright page bears the 1923 publication year and the 'I' after 'Reminiscences of a Stock Operator'. A scarce, early printing published under Doran, before the 1925 merger with Doubleday; 299pp. Corners of boards are lightly bumped. Gilt is faded at spine tail but quite intact at head. A few light smudges across the boards. Tiny penciled-in price on front free endpaper, textblock is otherwise clean and spotless. Binding is sound. Generally quite a pleasant copy.
A quintessential, observant meditation on the stock market styled as a roman à clef. It remains a necessary piece of literature for those interested in the ongoings of the investing world, and highly coveted for the collector. VG. Item #992
